Day 1: Arrival Day – Welcome to Hemingways Eden 

Arrive in Nairobi and be warmly greeted by our retreat hosts. Enjoy a private transfer to Hemingways Eden, a serene boutique sanctuary tucked away in the artistic heart of Karen, where nature, art, and tranquility blend seamlessly.

Settle into your beautiful garden suite and unwind with a restorative yoga session on the lawns — a gentle welcome ritual to release travel fatigue and ground your energy after your journey. Day 2: Scenic Transfer to Asilia Bush Camp (Ol Pejeta Conservancy) 

Begin the morning with guided breathwork and mindful movement as the sun rises over Hemingways’ gardens. Embark on a scenic drive into Kenya’s central highlands, where rolling tea fields and Mount Kenya’s peaks pave the way to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Arrive at the intimate Asilia Bush Camp, surrounded by pristine wilderness. Spend the afternoon on a game drive through the conservancy, where your expert guide will help you spot wildlife, including black and white rhinos, along with elephants, giraffes, zebras and other iconic species in their natural habitat.

As the sun dips, gather around the fire for a Wild Woman Healing Circle and evening meditation beneath a blanket of stars.

Day 3: Ol Pejeta: Awakening the Inner Safari

Day 9: Departure Day: Rest, Reflect, Return

Early Morning Farewell Meditation

Depart Samburu mid-morning, arriving in Nairobi in the early afternoon. Upon arrival, enjoy a light lunch at Tin Roof Café, located within the same lush compound as Serenity Spa. Then, unwind with a rejuvenating spa experience — a full-body treatment, refreshing shower, and a moment of stillness to restore your body and spirit before your journey home.

Depending on your flight time, you may also grab a light farewell dinner at Tin Roof Café, offering one final moment to reflect and connect with your group. Private transfer to the airport for your outbound international flight.

Catherine Kamau

Catherine Kamau is a Nairobi based yoga instructor and trauma-informed wellness facilitator dedicated to creating safe, inclusive spaces for healing, self-discovery, rejuvenation and empowerment. She professionally delved into yoga in 2018 and became certified by Africa Yoga Project for her 200hr power yoga certification. Catherine has since then advanced to undertake more training in Yin yoga, Trauma-Informed styles among others.

Over the past eight years, Catherine has extensively offered her wellness expertise in retreats, yoga studios, corporate workshops, schools, individual settings, and organizations among other areas. In the last 3 years alone, Catherine has impacted more than 300 participants in her 12 weeks Trauma-Informed program which is mainly focused on trauma recovery and wellbeing. Her delivery entails physical movements, mindfulness/meditation practice and inquiry.

As a first beneficiary of the impacts of yoga, Catherine purposed to extend this practice to her community with the aim of elevating people’s fitness journey, lifestyle, mental, emotional and physical health as they reconnect with inner safety, strength, joy and wholeness, coming home to themselves, one breath at a time

Beyond the mat, Catherine loves to be in nature and exploring the outdoors as another fundamental venture for living a fulfilling life. She loves being around wildlife, mountains, rivers and the raw essence of nature. Additionally, Catherine studies and explores astrology, a study of the movement of celestial bodies, and their relation to human/ earthly patterns. She delves into this practice as a tool of self discovery, understanding and guidance.

Caroline Lecercle

Author of the blog Le Monde Dans Ma Valise (The World in My Suitcase), Caroline deepened her yoga practice during her six years of travel. Convinced of its many benefits, she decided to teach it after a trip to India and a chance encounter. She then began her career change from primary school teacher to yoga instructor.

A graduate of The Yoga Mat School (200 RYT diploma, internationally recognized by Yoga Alliance), she trained in Thailand to teach Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga.

Caroline has a profound desire to share tools for well-being with everyone. Each class aims for physical and mental relaxation through breathing exercises, postures, and relaxation periods. Through these sessions, she helps participants reconnect with themselves and their joy, freeing them from the burdens of daily life. This practice is a true escape. It allows you to let go, to calm down and to find your inner freedom.

Asilia Ol Pejete Camp

Featuring spacious and comfortable canvas tents along the Ewaso Ngiro River, where elephants are frequently seen from campyou can relax and take in the iconic landscapes and stunning backdrop views of Mount Kenya while observing the rarest African wildlife. Additionally, you can enjoy superb general game viewing and get involved in activities such as canine training or recording lion sightings for the research team.

Ol Pejeta has ten tents, two of which are designed for family safaris. All tents have an en-suite bathroom, and hot running water. In the morning, you can enjoy a delicious coffee and quietly watch the flock of weaver birds fluttering in the fever trees. Is it suitable for beginners in yoga?

Absolutely. All levels are welcome, from first-timers to seasoned practitioners. Modifications are always offered, and you’re encouraged to go at your own pace.

What should I pack?

Pack light and soft-sided. A full packing guide will be sent after booking, but essentials include:

  • Neutral-colored, lightweight clothing
  • Sun protection (hat, SPF, sunglasses)
  • Comfortable layers for morning and evening
  • A journal, swimsuit, and yoga wear

Can I come solo?

Yes. Solo travelers are warmly welcomed. However, you should know you will be accommodated in shared twin rooms.

Can I have my own room?

The group will be accommodated in shared twin rooms (two women per room). However, if you want to have your own room, it’s possible with an additional fee ($3,000).

Is this a women-only retreat?

Yes, it is a women-only retreat.

How large is the group?

There will be a maximum of 10 women attending, plus the teachers.

What is the cancellation policy?

Full terms and conditions will be sent before booking. Generally, your deposit ($5,000) secures your place, and final payment is due 60 days before departure. Travel insurance is a must recommended.

Is there electricity and WiFi at the camps?

Yes. The camps have electricity and complimentary WiFi in your room and common areas, though we encourage you to switch off and be present in the wild.

Insurance

Insurance is mandatory for everyone. Clients are responsible for their personal belongings, including luggage, and must ensure they are covered for the entire duration of their trip with regard to medical expenses, injury, death, repatriation, cancellation and interruption, with adequate benefits, and for the activities planned in the trip.
